Sound Familiar?
Pesky Problem
Guests can’t envision their stay at your Airbnb.
As guests are thumbing through the photos on your Airbnb listing, things feel pretty lifeless. Sure, the place looks nice enough, but potential guests can’t really imagine what staying at your Airbnb would be like. What would we do during our stay? What would it feel like? What would we look forward to?
You’ve got answers to all of those questions in your written description, but most folks never make it that far. After a few swipes through the first three or four pictures, they’ve moved on to another listing.
Let's Try This
Bite-Size Solution
Photograph your Airbnb in action to show folks what their trip will be like.
If this situation sounds familiar, let’s breathe a little life into your photo reel. Instead of telling folks what their stay would feel like, show them. Stage your photos as if your Airbnb is in full swing: the board games are set up, the popcorn has been popped, the fire has been lit, your complimentary wine has been poured, the towels are waiting just outside the hot tub.
No one has done this better than superhosts Brain and Melissa. Take a look at their listing for The Hideout in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Do you see why we booked? Just a few swipes into their photos and we were whisked away into daydreams about our own getaway: we’d start our days sipping coffee in the Adirondacks, spend the afternoons bonding over board games, end the days cozying up by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. Notice how no one is actually in the photos, but the Airbnb feels fully alive. As potential guests, we inserted ourselves into those photos. And then we booked right away so we could experience it all in real life. (Spoiler…it was just as incredible as it looks.)
5 Minutes
Here's Your First Step
Highlight the top three guest activities in your photos.
Start by thinking through an ideal stay at your Airbnb. What amenities will guests use? What outings will they enjoy? What will their mornings or evenings look like? Then set those activities up, photograph them, and add those shots to your photo reel. Just don’t forget what we talked about a few weeks back: each photograph of your Airbnb is a promise to your guests, so make sure they really can enjoy everything you’ve featured.
