Sound Familiar?
Pesky Problem
You don’t actually know what your guests are experiencing.
When was the last time you actually stayed in your own Airbnb? If your guests are enjoying a vacation home that you and your family also visit frequently, then the answer might be last month or last week. But for many hosts this question elicits crickets. If you fall into this camp, you’re definitely not alone. But you might be letting obvious blindspots go unfixed, guest after guest, because you’ve never truly experienced the space the way your guests do.
Let's Try This
Bite-Size Solution
Be your own guest and spend a few nights at your own Airbnb.
This is the fun part! Set your place up just as you would for a new round of guests. Then go pack a bag and move on in. Aim to spend at least two nights in your space, but if you can swing a longer stay, do it! You’ll learn even more.
During your trip, challenge yourself to avoid bolting back and forth between your home and your Airbnb. Instead, treat it like a real trip, and do all the activities your guests would do, from the routine stuff, like cooking dinner, to the luxurious stuff, like soaking in the hot tub. Yep, the more you spoil your guests, the more you should spoil yourself. That’s just good quality testing. Rinse and repeat this staycation each year so you stay connected to how your space might have changed.

Here's Your First Step
Book your own stay.
Here’s your first step: go book that stay! Find at least two nights on the calendar where you can block off your place’s availability and truly immerse yourself in the staycation experience. Don’t forget to take a notebook with you so you can jot down all the little fixes and new ideas that will come to mind during your visit. Oh, and don’t forget to enjoy yourself. After all, this a pretty nice place to stay!
